Andrea Heard
Andrea is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and Delaware. She earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University and has experience working across a range of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. Andrea began her clinical work supporting immigrant and refugee populations at Boston Medical Center and providing care to individuals with chronic mental health conditions at Massachusetts Mental Health Center. She later worked in outpatient substance use treatment in Philadelphia and in a local inpatient detox unit providing case management. These experiences shaped her trauma-informed perspective and deepened her understanding of how early experiences, relationships, and life stressors can impact mental health.
Andrea strives to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe exploring what they are going through. She views therapy as a collaborative process where clients guide the direction of their work while she offers insight, tools, and support to help them better understand patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful change. Her therapeutic approach integrates several evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and attachment-based therapy, while also incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Andrea is EMDR-trained and uses this approach to help clients process trauma and work through past experiences that may still be affecting their present lives.
